The UCSF EH&S Clinical and Industrial Hygiene Program supports the Medical Center to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations by providing the following services:
- Management of the Respiratory Protection Program including annual fit-testing and training
- Indoor air quality investigations in response to occupant/employee concerns (e.g. malodors, ventilation, temperature)
- Industrial hygiene hazard exposure assessment and exposure monitoring for potential chemical and physical occupational hazards
- Hazardous Material and Waste Management including bulk and air sampling, abatement oversight, and collaboration with Capital Programs and contractor program management for asbestos, lead-based paint, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs)
- Environment of Care (EOC) support with CMS and TJC compliance including contribution to safety committees, injury and illness investigations, environmental tours, training, and policy review and implementation
