Emergency Procedures

Security Services responds to a number of emergencies.  All UCSF Medical Center locations have standard response procedures for the following emergency Code activations:

Code Pink:  Infant Abduction
Respond to the nearest exit and screen everyone leaving the building
Be alert for people with children or large bags and packages
Immediately report any suspicious or unusual situations to Security

Code Purple:  Pediatric Abduction
Respond to the nearest exit and screen everyone leaving the building
Be alert for people with children or large bags and packages
Immediately report any suspicious or unusual situations to Security

Code Gray:  Abusive or Combative Person
Respond to the location if nearby to assist staff and Security as needed

Code Silver:  Person with Weapon or Hostage Situation
If directly involved, do whatever you can to escape, take cover, and shelter in place (Run, Hide, or Fight).  Call 9+911 from any Campus or Medical Center telephone to report as much information as possible about the suspect(s) and any injuries.  If using a non-Campus telephone, call 911 to connect to local Police Department.  If not directly involved, stay away from the location, evacuate amubulatory persons if it can be safely done, or shelter in place with non-ambulatory patients.
