AEROSOL-TRANSMISSIBLE DISEASES FOR HEALTHCARE
- at hire and annual training requirement for all healthcare staff providing care and services to patients in airborne isolation

ANNUAL SAFETY TRAINING
-  mandatory annual training for all UCSF Health staff available at UC Learning Center 

BLOOD-BORNE PATHOGEN
Required annually for all UCSF Health employees who may have potential contact with blood-borne pathogens through their course of work; two class options are available at UC Learning Center 
- Infection Control for Ancillary Staff (for UCSF Health non-clinical staff)
- Infection Control for Physicians, Nurses, and Licensed Independent Contractors (Clinical Staff)

COVID-19 
- required for all UCSF Health employees; available at UC Learning Center 

ERGONOMICS 
It is recommended that staff take the ergonomic training appropriate for their job duties and responsibilities
Ergonomics for Remote Work is a 45-minute webinar aimed at helping employees to adapt and adjust during this time of change and uncertainty as many are experiencing extended hours working from home for the first time
Office Ergonomics is a course that provides comprehensive office ergonomic training and a self-assessment to optimize organizational ergonomic interventions

FIRE PREVENTION
- Fire and Life Safety Training is designed for all staff; it provides a basic overview of fire prevention, fire protection, fire response, and safe use of fire extinguishers.  (15 minutes; eCourse)
- Surgical Fire Risk Training is designed for clinical staff working in the perioperative environment; it focuses on special hazards in the operating room related to the fire triangle, ways to prevent surgical fires, and safety measures that reduce fire risk.  (15 minutes; eCourse)

In addition to the training listed above, UCSF Fire Prevention will provide in-person, specific training for your staff or department, as needed.  Please contact [email protected] for details.

HAND HYGIENE AND COVID BEHAVIOR
- recomended module for managers for recording observations related to hand-hygiene and COVID behaviors available at UC Learning Center 

HAZARDOUS DRUGS - USP 800 (Direct Patient Care)
- required annual training for UCSF Health employees who perform direct patient care and who transport, handle, compound, administer, dispose, or clean spills of hazardous mwedications

HAZARDOUS DRUGS - USP 800 for EVS
- required annual training for UCSF Health employees who are part of clinical support services and who transport hazardous medications or work in rooms where hazardous medications are administered.

POWERED AIR PURIFYING RESPIRATOR (Respiratory Protection)
- recommended module for review of Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) use available at UC Learning Center or view training videos in the Safety website

SAFE PATIENT HANDLING
Required for all staff providing patient care; both on-line module and hands-on training with the equipment are required.

- In-person equipment training registration is available on this SPH webpage

WORKPLACE VIOLENCE PREVENTION
-  required annual training for all UCSF Health employees available at UC Learning Center (Workplace Violence Prevention in Healthcare)
-  also available at UC Learning Center is a course called Managing Challenging Patient Behaviors (log in and search for course title)
-  training provided by Crisis Prevention Institute (interested staff may contact [email protected])
 

 

Hazard Assessments

INSPECT ROUNDS 
- survey-readiness rounds and safety assessments utilizing Inspect, a tool developed to streamline inspections with customized checklists and a flexible workflow.  A variety of checklists that cover Environment of Care, Safe-Patient Handling, Workplace Violence Prevention, and others may be accessed here

SAFE-PATIENT HANDLING PLANS
- for all units/departments that provide patient care; these plans are required by CalOSHA to help identify and mitigate risks relating to the physical assistance of patients.  Plans must be reviewed and/or updated annually; templates are available in the Safety website; a copy of the plan must be placed in the appropriate section of the unit's Environment of Care binder
